Brush Chipping & Leaves

Tree limbs and brush are chipped by the Village at no charge.  Chipping is done on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month.  The Village does not chip brush for lots being cleared for building purposes.  Leave limbs as long as possible and no more than a six inch diameter trunk.  The cut ends should face the street and be in a single layer.  Do not make a large pile of limbs that can become entangled as the Public Works may refuse to chip the brush/limbs.

Fall and leaves go hand in hand but the Village is prepared to provide some "re-leaf" from all of that fallen foliage.  Leaves will be picked up by the Village on Monday and Thursday each week during the spring and fall seasons.  The property owner needs to rake them into the curb on those days, or for those without a curb, rake them near the road.  Fall collections usually take place the first week of October until the leaves have stopped falling or the first snow fall.  During peak pick-up season (November) crews may need to pick up your leaves the day after the scheduled day.  Please be patient.  Spring collection generally starts the last week of March and lasts until the grass mowing season starts.

Here are a few guidelines that will make the collection as easy and successful as possible:

 ● Don't drive across leaf piles, as pets and kids may be playing in them.

 ● Do take your leaves to the curb

 ● Don't allow children to play in leaves along the street

 ● Do remove any limbs, rocks, or other heavy objects from leaf piles.

 ● Don't park over a leaf pile, as the vehicle's exhaust may start a fire.

 ● Do avoid putting out leaves when snow is forecast.

 ● Don't use plastic bags to place your leaves curbside.
