How do I join the Fire Fighters?
Contact Fire Chief Joel Bertram at 565-2121 for information on joining the fire fighters, first responders, or to become a member of the Fire Department.

What can I legally burn?
In general, open burning is not allowed within the Village limits, except for small contained "camp" fires, burning only clean wood. For other exceptions, please contact the Clerk-Treasurer's office at 565-3511 or check the Howards Grove's Code of Ordinances regarding Burning Regulations by

How do I apply for Village job openings?

How do I dispose of yard wastes?
The Village has a yard wastes dumpster available at the Public Works Garage, 1112 Alcott Avenue. The dumpster is available from 7am to 3:30pm Mondays thru Thursdays, and 8am to noon on the 1st & 3rd Saturdays of each month. Please note the dumpster is not available on Fridays. The dumpster is for yard wastes, grass clippings, weeds, leaves, etc. Please continue to place 'woody' items such as tree trimming/branches up to 6" in diameter curbside for chipping on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the month.

Can I make online payments?
Not yet, but this feature will be available in the near future for a variety of things, including sewer bills, dog licenses, property taxes, and many others! There will be a small fee associated with this service. Please check back soon to try it!

How do I get on an agenda?
Please contact the Clerk-Treasurer's office at least one week prior to the meeting. Click on the link for detailed information on the process to have a topic placed on a Village
agenda.

I have a sanitary emergency! Who do I call?
If you have a sanitary sewer emergency or blockage, 24-hour response is available by calling 377-6039 or 377-6036.

How do I rent a Village Park Shelter?
We have two Shelters available for rent from late May to mid-October, one at Memorial Park and one at Riverside Park. You may check availability of dates on the calendar on this website. To reserve one of the parks, complete the Shelter Reservation Form and submit the form and your rental fee to the Clerk-Treasurer's office.

What are setbacks?
The term setback means the required distance separating a building or structure from a property line. Setback regulations for buildings are included in the Zoning Code under Title 13, Sec. 13-1-21 to 13-1-28. Setback regulations for accessory structures are included in the Zoning Code Sec. 13-1-140. What businesses can I operate from my home?
Home occupations are allowed in residential districts, as long as they meet certain criteria. If you are considering a home business, please check those criteria in Sec 13-1-15 of the
Zoning Code.

Can I change the zoning designation of my property?
Zoning changes require Planning Commission review and the approval of the Village Board. Applications to amend the zoning classification of a property must be turned in at least 30 days prior to the second Tuesday of the month to be scheduled for a Zoning Commission meeting. When is brush chipping done?
Brush chipping is done the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month. Due to higher volume at certain times of the year, we may continue brush chipping on subsequent days until completed.

When is garbage & recycling collection?
Howards Grove contracts with Larry's Hauling for curbside pickup of garbage and recycling. Pickup day is usually Wednesday, except if a national holiday or severe snowstorm fall on a Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday, in which case, our pickup day will be Thursday. For more information,

How do I report a burned out street light?
You may call Public Works during normal business hours, or please complete the "Let Us Know" form and an email will be sent directly to our Public Works Department. Click here for the

How can I request public records?
Public records, resolutions and ordinances, minutes and other public information can be requested by submitting the Records and Information Request Form to the Village Clerk-Treasurer's Office. You may complete one in our office or download one and submit it via mail or our drop box at 913 S. Wisconsin Dr., Howards Grove, WI 53083
